Local award win for Formula Plastics

25th February 2016

A plastic injection moulding company which makes components for the automotive, lighting and electronics industries, has won a local award for manufacturing and engineering in Newton Aycliffe.

At the Make Your Mark 2015 Awards held earlier this month, Formula Plastics was the winner in the ‘Manufacturing and Engineering’ category. The Make Your Mark Awards, run by Aycliffe Business Park, recognise achievement and success among over 250 businesses located at the County Durham business park. Sponsored by Ebac, the award was designed to recognise and highlight a company that has demonstrated excellence in manufacturing and engineering.

Managing director, James Goodliffe, said: “This is a fantastic award to win. We’re very proud of our team, who made all this possible, and this award recognises the achievements of the past year, as well as the plans we have for further expansion.

“Aycliffe Business Park is a great place to do business, and we are very pleased to have won this award as part of the vibrant community of companies that are based here in Newton Aycliffe.”

To win, Formula Plastics had to outline its contribution to the local economy; show evidence of innovative approaches to business; and indicate relevant third party accreditation.

The company, which employs 55 people, demonstrated that by engaging staff in business improvement, the management team has been able to build on the many years of experience within the company, to sustain growth and support further job creation. There was also a focus on partnerships with customers, which has driven product development and also provided a strong base from which to expand.
